Important Info
Aleo— 28.04.2021
What is Aleo’s current fundraising status and will there be a private token sale in the future?
We raised money through our recently announced series A venture fundraising round. We want to be as inclusive as possible and give all contributing community members access to the value we're all helping to create. With that being said, this is a delicate matter, and we want to ensure that whatever we do is fair, aligns incentives, and complies with all relevant laws and regulations. We're working hard to provide opportunities for people to earn Aleo credits, so stay tuned. In the meantime, we'd welcome any and all creative thoughts in #💡ideas.
Will there be a developer grant program and if so, how can I participate? Yes, there will be a developer grant program. We are currently working on the specifics and will make an official announcement in the near future. If you have any ideas you’d like to see funded feel free to start the conversation in #💡ideas.
How is Aleo different from existing smart contract platforms?
Aleo is the only platform that is private-by-default, ensuring no miner-extractable value or front-running. Furthermore, program execution happens off-chain, so Aleo can support programs of arbitrary size with unlimited runtime. This also means that it’s possible to know exactly how much any execution costs before it’s run.
Is there an incentivized testnet?
No. However, we are currently evaluating whether or not to make future testnets incentivized. ⠀⠀
How can I get involved and help the Aleo community?
Right now the most important thing for the Aleo community is to have as many people as possible learn, use, and help improve all of our software! Feel free to look at our public Github repos and submit issues, propose fixes, and participate in the conversation about the design of these products/protocols. You can also help our community by answering questions for newcomers.
Aleo announced (April 20, 2021) it has raised $28M to build the next-generation platform for decentralized, private applications.
The round was led by Andreessen Horowitz (a16z) with participation from Placeholder VC, Galaxy Digital, Variant Capital, and Coinbase Ventures. Other notable investors include Polychain Capital, Slow Ventures, Dekrypt Capital, Scalar Capital, a_capital, zkValidator, Balaji Srinivasan and Ethereal Ventures, a new venture fund established by Joseph Lubin.
